What travel visas will you need when travelling to Europe?

A Schengen visa permits free travel between Schengen space membership countries, but doesn't work to visit other european countries.

hi my name is guiqin i am chinese my husband is british, we want to travel to other parts of europe, we are not sure if i need a schengen visa
i have a resident permit for the uk with indefinate leave to remain.
please can anyone clarify this for us.

Schengen isn't exactly a

Schengen isn't exactly a visa it's more a treaty/agreement between countries who will allow entry more easily if you've already gone through customs at another country which is also schengen. It makes traveling easier and quicker, i found out about it after taking a european cruise and stopping at most of the more major and popular western european countries.

schengen visas

what do you exactly mean by schengen visas? i mean is it a special other visa or the visa that you get for a country lets say for eg. germany, will let you travel in other schengen countries? what about romania?

Residence Permit????????

I am Nigeria but I have a residence permit here in Poland..I wanted to ask you first if I need visa to Schengen Countries or it could work with the residence permit?
Secondly,Poland we become Schengen Country by 21st of December,and if i want to go to Old schengeh like 'Belgium'maybe i can go there by flights ?
